Red Drogans (129) writes:
"Ssh!"
"Ssh. What?"
"I heard something."
"Yes. My pick axe."
"No. SOMETHING."
"Something what?"
"There is something out there."
"We're in a cave. You are hearing echoes."
"It wasn't an echo."
Scharl hefted his pick and slammed it back down into the soil and rock at the side of the shaft. The sound echoed around and back and around and back again.
"Did it sound something like that."
"Don't be funny. I heard something. Okay?"
"Okay." He said, giving him a glare. "It's probably someone else digging around the bend or something. We aren't the only ones down here."
"It wasn't a pick or shovel. It sounded like..., well..."
"Like what?"
"Like claws."
"There you go again. I told you, if you mention it again I am going to smack you with the shovel."
"Look everyone knows they found a lair down there. With dragons in."
"No. Everyone does not know that. Everyone just says that. It's a story..."
"No. It's real. I know a..."
"Yes. As real as flying horses."
"They're real. My cousin saw one."
"Your cousin's an alcoholic."
"Hey! Leave off. That's not called for."
"Okay. Sorry. But you are freaking me out with your constant hearing things."
"Ssh! There it is again."
They were still for a moment. No sound beyond their breathing was heard.
The shadows danced in the torch light.
"Okay. That's it. One more word..."
"Ssh!"
And this time Scharl heard it. It wasn't claws. It sounded more like the slow dragging of an animal across the stones.
Scharl picked up the torch from it's nook and carried it down the shaft a ways, lifting it above his head for better lighting.
The dark stayed dark. The shaft walls sparkled here and there where flat stone reflected the torch light, and dead ahead 2 large green orbs stared back.

We have scouted and we have scouted, but we have not found where to produce wolves, moles or giant spiders. Neither on the surface nor in the underground we have found any. Is the monster training skill useless? It is now the only rare material we have not found any supply of.

Villagers (200) writes:
Greeting noble Ladies an Lords,
We are pleased to write that the population of Villagers is growing steadily.
Our first boats are seeking trade routs and brave scouts a trying hard to get out of tundra.
It was a big surprise to find so many sailors in the seas but it seems that weaves are more hospital than poor soil of South tundra :)
Forests near Honess appeared to be quite dangerous. There are a lot of trents and wolves there! People are somewhat uneasy with such neighbors. Leaders of the villagers are already considering some counter-measures.
Hopefully soon the wood-evil will be wiped out!

Flamered Heathens (227) writes:
Everything has ground to a halt! My one man that actually got anywhere has recruited a group of entertainers and in Ney-brer I have selected some more peasants to raise livestock for the town. Unfortunately that one place that was open to me has been closed and I can't get them there to do anything useful. I have sent a friendly message asking to be allowed to move my units there so I can only hope that this month I will have more success. If this is granted then I will soon have an income of sorts established entertaining the people of Ney-brer and selling them livestock from the neighbouring countryside.
To add to the frustration my servant who is meant to carry these messages - known, oddly enough, only by the abbreviation ISP - has decided to take some time off and only works for what seems like a few seconds at a time. This is hardly long enough to dictate my news, let alone to have them sent!
Some good news though, which more than compensates for the rest at the moment. As you readers of the Times will know my humble scribblings have been deemed worthy of recognition by the great and the good. I only wish I had more to report in return for what is the fortune they have offered me at this time. Many thanks, even though I was not eligible for your competition and have no idea how to collect!
