Red Drogans (129) writes:

It looked somewhat like an army on campaign.
Admittedly not the largest of armies, but then not all battles are big.
The camp was a little more spread out than it would be under normal campaign conditions.
And the big tent in the middle was infact the mess tent and not the kings as might be expected.
The reasons for all this was that they were on a Dragon hunt. And Dragons aren't generally kept at bay by a line of men with spears at the ready.
Dragons fire tends to do rather well against massed men.
And large tents.

The king was infact bedding down in the little tent, slightly away from the larger cluster.
He was however in a good mood.
"Always did love a good hunt hey?"
"Yes sir. Only, I'd rather be hunting deer."
"Deer? Where's the sport in that? No. Laden. Today we test our metal. We hunt bigger game."
"Yes sir." He said, wondering who all that 'we' included.
"Are we all ready?"
"The men are forming up now sir."
"And Shammon?"
"Apparently off looking for herbs. We have men out looking for him now sir."
"Right. They best hurry. Now, where is that peasant that saw the Dragon?"
"Heard. Sir. He apparently only heard it. Ran screaming like a wench, they say, left his mate to burn."
"Not good. But the only evedince we have of the Dragon."
"And the scout sir. A little more reliable I would imagine. But then he didn't see his mate burning like torch in the night."
"Ah yes. Well, doesn't help to dwell on that now does it?"
"As you say sir."
"I do." he glanced down at his royal attire, "Now, do you think it will be cold down there?"
"They say it get's pretty warm if you go deep enough. But I'd suggest you bring the thick cloak anyway. You can dump it quickly if it burns."
"A little negitive Laden... But it just might be good advice."
He draped his cloak across his arm and walked out into the morning light.
"It is a little chilly" he thought to himself, "so perhaps the cloak would not look too out of place."
His horse was waiting for him.
"I can't ride that down the shaft, can I?"
"Actually sir you can. Four abreast if you want. You can fit a wagon down there without trouble. Or a Dragon for that matter."
"I thought we were walking."
"It's quite a way sir."
"Well, then we had best be moving. Laden!"
"Sir."
"Find Shammon. Quickly. Send him on after us. At a pace. Wouldn't want to run into this thing before we are ready."
"About that sir."
"Yes?"
"Well, Sir. I'm a little worried about him. I think he has forgotten why we are here."
"Why would you think that."
"Well... Sir. He has braught no Dragon Lore scrolls along."
"Laden. You've learned to read magic?"
"Err.. No sir. But his his aprentice has learned a little."
"Ah yes. Forgot about the lad for a moment. No, don't worry about that. He is getting a little... excentric, but he is still a reliable man. Most realiable."
"Hope you are right sir."
"I am. Now be a good man and find him quickly."
With that he waved his hand at the master at arms. And the front of the column started into the shaft. The hapless spearmen at the front first, followed by an array of cross bows and long bows, disapearing into the dark at the whim of their king.

Beware the SHAFT[1] your men are using as the local latrine.
If you fail to properly plug that hole, you may be innundated by a flood of sewage similar to that which overflowed here recently:

Villagers (200) writes:

Greeting noble Ladies an Lords,

Ads:
The next piece of information concerns newly arrived factions. If you are seeking for a fast development of your funds, Villagers will help you to raise up to 40,000 SILV using your unclaimed money as a one-shot opportunity. Don't waste your unclaimed money ineffectively! :)
If you are interested in perpetual fund raising, we can hire your mages (casting for us) at 2000 SILV each turn at Honess. 6,000 a turn is quite good for beginners, right?

News:
We are happy to announce that the award won by our Times article arrived.
Villagers are celebrating the great prize, kindly donated by Black Eagle.

Since now we have the possibility to develop our small community into a fully populated middle town, on the bank of Atlantis ocean!

Although it is winter here and horses are rare in tundra Villagers managed to hire some leaders who start learning to contribute to the great future of our small nation.

Our prominent geographers found out that the ocean coast limits us on the West and there is no possibility for the trade routes there. This is very disappointing news as we were planning to make world-circle trip to prove that the Atlantis ocean is the dominant form of terrain.

We do really expect that our scouts who are blocked by the bad weather will find hospitality of hosting factions who will allow them to eat at least something during these winter time.
