Northern Viking (33) writes:
More troops, more weapons, more silver. Surely this is what empire is all about. Still, what do you do when dragon hunting has degenerated to a tea party pastime and the royal vacuum cleaner is clogged with pearls and gems? We hear there are wars about, but we only see what we presume to be accidental skirmishes. We ourselves were attacked but we only know this because we came across the story while changing the newspaper in the birdcages.
We will probably regret our complacency but until then pass the beer and give another turn to the dragon on the spit.
Oh, and we have not yet found any monster production hexes although we are hopeful to find some in the deep underground. You would think monster trainers would be of some use as they are quite expensive to train.
Onwards to Empire.

Sohu-Sbrol Guild (62) writes:
The sailors were making simple trade runs back and forth between cities. Picking up cotton and delivering lassoes. They expected poor weather but not what they saw. The squall threw them back and forth and ripped the mast in half. The navigator was tossed overboard, taking the maps with her.
They were stuck. No nets, no fishermen, and no food. Only the now calm sea existed. All hope was lost.
-----
The betrayal of the mutually agreed borders indicated their true nature - greed. They were out for more silver and wanted those cities they had agreed not to claim. Their smiles and handshakes and good words were all meant to deceive while they built their armies.

Red Drogans (129) writes:
It had been 3 weeks since the failed assasination attempt and we have been scouring the town and listening in to as many conversations as possible.
Nothing.
The problem is that we know he/they have not fled. We know he/they will try again.
In point of fact, we recognise that the precesion of the attempt was so good that there is a very real chance of success. We are worried.
"Anything to report Oly?"
"Nothing, Sir. It was dead out there last night."
"Troan? What about your sources?"
"Still nothing, Sir. We rounded them all up again yesterday, but nothing."
"Anything else? Any new leads? New thoughts? Suggestions?"
The room was quite, except for some uncomfortable shifting around.
"erm... " started Oly, "I guess we can just reiterate our advice about moving him. Change location."
"No. I'll mention it again, but he won't move. And I think he may be right.
Home ground advantage here. If we can't stop them here, we can't stop them anywhere."
"Any clues as to the source?"
"Not really. Some guesses, but none of them make sence."
"Personal?"
"Maybe. We are looking into that too. But again, coming up blank."
"Anything else?"
All quite.
"Okay. Finish up and let's hit the streets again. Someone has to know or have seen something."

*raises hand*
We are still here... We are just getting a bit blaz since it has become commonplace for us to take down several dragons in a turn. Hunting Balrogs though can still give us a thrill. Scouting for rare materials is a forgotten memory, they have all been found, exploited and been put on automation.
Monster production was a dire dissapointment, yes. Those scouts are wandering lost in the underworlds looking for change to survive now.
This scourge you talk about sounds like a new challenge! We will seek it out.
Although I'm wondering if the dragons are saying the same about us....
