Northern Viking (33) writes:
For lack of anything better to do we are going to declare war on all units not revealing their factions on our turf. We may extend this to units not declaring their factions anywhere (we see whole cities full of undeclared units), but for now we will only concern ourselves with our turf. You'll know when you're on our turf because we always declare our faction. Northern Viking that is.
Because we are nice guys, we will give units entering our lands 1 month to declare themselves. Just in case someone wanders in on us inadvertently.
Onwards to Empire.

Red Drogans (129) writes:
It was quite a warm night, and with no moon, quite dark.
2 guards walked the wall in conversation.
They approached his spot.
Arrived, turned the corner and continued.
He hung 3 feet above their heads in shadow provided by the corner of the wall. All in black and for all purposes invisible.
His fingertips & toes locked onto small slivers of rock jutting from the wall.
Had he not kept himself in perfect shape, he would now have been cramping.
As it was, he hung there for a few moments more, listening to the foot steps recede.
He lowered himself to the walk way without a sound.
Stepping across the walkway in the light from the torch nearby, he quickly inserted a sliver into a crack on the inside of the wall, again in the shadow cast by the piller.
To this sliver a black line, down which he lowered himself slowly, tucked deeply into the shadow.
Now he could easily have climbed down this part of the wall, but he needed to face out.
The inner court yard was ablaze with light from the fire kept burning there, and the guards were doubled and on continues patrol.
At which moment 2 guards on the other wall came into view and glanced across the court yard.
He floze in place, confident that they would not see him deep in shadow with the light of the fire in their eyes.
They did not.
After a glance they continued their patrol, and he continued his decent to the ground.
It was at this point that lady luck played her hand.
A maid stepped out of the door a pace away, looking directly at him.
Their eyes met. He'd been seen.
His blade was out and the ground coverd, but she managed to start her scream before his stroke cut it short.
The alarm was raised.
He was back in shadow by the time the gaurds across the court were back in place. They would not see him. But the body was in plain sight.
Time to flee.
Grabbing the line he bolted up the wall.
The movement was spotted about halfway up the wall.
The first bolt slammed into the wall just as he lowered himself down the otherside.
He hung there for a moment hearing the sound of the other gaurds running toward him along the walkway.
He did not want to drop into the newly filled moat. It wasn't wide, but his position would be obvious by the ripples and he would be dripping a path for them to follow out the otherside.
Tossing his other line in to fool the gaurds, he scrambled along the outside of the wall in the direction they were comming.
When the path above became quite with lots of gaurds gathered at his line, and torches flashing back and forth, many taken from the wall as they ran.
He quickly hoised himself back onto the path. And ran from the direction of the comotion.
He reached a well lit section of the wall.
Time to depart.
Pulling a foldable xbow out, he halled back on the lever using all his strength to retention it.
He fired the bolt attached to a thin line out into the night across the moat.
The twang was audable in the night, as was the sound of him sliding down the line onto the gound oposite.
He quickly pulled loose the bold, tossing the line across the moat so that the location of his escape remained unkown.
He stepped across the path and into the long grass, where he went to ground and slowly snaked his way toward the trees careful to leave no trace or indication of his location.
By the time he made the trees, the horses were out in force, but none had come too near.
They would comb the forrest in the morning and getting back into the town would prove a challange. But one he had to face. He was becoming a local & would be missed.
Second failure on this mission, and still a long night ahead.
